Recent Conversation Since both Noah and Emilee are talking a lot more these days, I wanted to share some funny conversation we had recently. Conversation 1 This happened during dinner: Emilee: [seeing "myur-chi" (tiny fish) on the table] “Fissshhhhhh, fissshhhhhhh, fisshhhhhhh” Mommy: “That’s right fish!” Emilee: “Nemmmooooo????” Mommy & Daddy: [burst into laughter] Conversation 2...

Susan_Cackle_Kim - oh wow! i’m the first to comment! :) i love these convos… they’re hilarious, cute, and sweet.

as for the parenting… i definitely think kids can turn out “good” even with “bad” parenting, and kids can be “bad” with “good” parenting. i think it’s a matter of how you define good and bad. and how many parents would ever admit they’re kids are really bad? i also think some parents think they’re doing a good job when they really aren’t, like spoiling their kids and not applying discipline consistently, or even at all. but that’s controversial i guess. what parent would ever admit they think they’re doing a bad job parenting???

here’s a hug for you…. hope you feel better soon!

yrnehkim - Who really knows whether a parent is “really” doing a good job or not? Although “good” parenting doesn’t guarantee producing good kids, I think it has much greater influence than their own personality. Furthermore, one thing I know for sure is that a good person or good Christian doesn’t necesarily make a good parent.

cassandrachoi - i think it’s totally possible and i’ve seen many cases… (my two cents)

krazyxangelx4lyfex - you didn’t find the code yet?!

D:

aigooo old man. HAHAHA

hannainjapan - hey tommy! i totally laughed out loud at your conversation #3 with noah..! haha! hope you’re well! :)

kyleescrazymommy - Kylee loves getting churros and smiley faces at costco too!

kennyahn - dude, i would spray spit on your face if i saw your smelly butt coming anywhere near my face.

parenting…..i don’t know the definitive answer to this, but it’s just a good idea to practice good parenting regardless. that’s about how i need to simplify it.

lastoriafoto - Amen to what Kenny said… (all of it ~ LOL!!!). Seriously, teach your children to live by the golden rule and that is to treat people the way you want to be treated. You have to be a good example of that. Keep your children’s best interest at heart and keep God near and dear and hope for the best!

jeffsuhr - dude, noah and i should go to costco together. i LOVE their churros ~ and no one else in my family likes them so it’s the one thing i never have to share (haha – bad parent)

i definitely think that kids can turn out well even if the parenting is bad. the other way around – i’m not too sure . . .

ycho773 - hmmm…i think that it depends on the child and the people who influence them the most. I’ve seen great kids with bad parents because they’ve found good models to follow. Though it’s not common, I’ve seen bad kids with good parents. They hang out with the wrong crowd. You need to do the best you can and leave the rest into God’s hands.

elainechung - cute cute cute~~~~

kanipark - 1 & 3 made me lol :)

CU chancellor says Asian ‘hate’ column ‘damaging’ I didn’t hear about this until I was talking to my pastor today. What in the world was he thinking? I don’t care what kind of writing he was trying to publish … you just don’t write about things like this. How can the editors let him publish...

kennyahn - I wonder what the corrective recourse will be. It’s not like we don’t know racism exists, but it’s always sad to be reminded of it.

Susan_Cackle_Kim - if anyone wants to read the article, here it is: http://media.www.thecampuspress.com/media/storage/paper1098/news/2008/02/18/Opinion/If.Its.War.The.Asians.Want-3216954.shtml

i do think the article was in poor taste. i’m not sure that i would’ve realized it was satire, as he claims it was meant to be. but actually — i have to admit — some of the things he says are pretty funny. i think it’s important to be honest and open, even if it’s racist, rather than try to sanitize everything so that we can learn from each other. racism is real — let’s admit it — and it’s not just white people who are racist. just about everyone is to a certain extent.

KiGgAxYuJa - you just found out about this now? hahaha…. there’s also another article discriminating mexicans/latinos that was posted in the campus press. i dunno.. .i think it was stupid Karson did a poor job in making this article…. i actually even wrote a long letter to the editor commenting on this article last week… hahaha

HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

KrNxChiCKa - Hahaha, i’m glad you like it.  My bro always tells me it’s annoying, lol.

Yeah, that article is pretty messed up.  Even for an opinions section.  I’m surprised how much of a big deal it turned out to be, but I’m glad it’s getting a lot of publicity.

parkster7831 - yeah i read that article last week and wrote the school and i got the same response. I agree with Kenny. Sad Reality.

doodoostain - racism is a two way street and most of us have a degree of bigotry in us.  i’m the first to say that i can appreciate satirical humor about prejudice.  i.e. i love sarah silverman comedy.  i didn’t read the article but i’m sure it was offensive.  if the school is issuing an apology, it must have been.

here’s what i think tho.  as asians, we certainly get more public displays of racism.  a lot of the things that have happened in the past few years would not happen in reference to blacks or mexicans (purposefully non-pc).  i mean, the superbowl ads for sales genie would never have happened with a black cartoon character talking about fried chicken sales or a mexican with taco sales.  but we’re the model minority.  we write letters and have marches.  but time to time, i think we need to burn this bitch down.  time to time, we need a choi seung hee (as sad as that was).  but that’s not the end.  we also need a dynamic asian leader that will fight for the community and band us together.

the only problem is, asians are racist too.  if the leader was vietnamese, then only the vietnamese would follow.  so we’d essentially need like 30 leaders to work together, which is gay.  black people didn’t look at MLK and say, well his great grand parents were from uganda and i’m from rwanda, F that guy.  but without a leader to be our voice in DC and in the media, we’re a long way from getting our “respect”.

P_S_C - dang hippies
